Race for the Spike & 3rd Annual Frisco Five-Card Poker Ride

Can you beat the A&M Railroad train back from Avoca to claim a Golden Spike in the second annual "Race for the Spike" bike ride? For a more leisurely, family-friendly ride, put on your poker face and collect 5 playing cards along the 3.4-mile poker route. Or do both!

"Race for the Spike" starts at 9 a.m. with cyclists heading north on Arkansas Street to Avoca where they turn around and race the train back to the starting point. It's a flat and fast 11-mile round trip, so an average speed of 22 mph should do it! Riders who beat the train will receive a commemorative railroad spike, and the first-place male and female finshers will win a "Race for the Spike" cycling jersey! View the course map here.

The family-friendly 3.4-mile poker ride will begin at 10 a.m. Best hands win prizes, and T-shirts will be given to the first 70 registrants.  View the course map here.

Register on Active.com here for $20 for adults, or $7 for children. Like "Race the Train in Rogers" on Facebook page to keep up with the latest event news.
