Bring your instrument and join in with live gospel, country and
bluegrass music or just bring your lawn chair, sit a spell, and enjoy a
memorable Ozarks evening.
Musicians travel from as far away as Tahlequah, OK, to pick their
guitars, fiddles, banjos and mandolins. Harmonicas, dulcimers,
autoharps, washboards, voices and spoons round out the sound. The result
is a gathering reminiscent of older times, when making music together
was the number one form of entertainment for rural Ozark families.
Each Saturday evening, May through October, about 500 people bring
lawnchairs, blankets, instruments and picnics and watch or join in with
one of the dozen or so loosely formed bands. As a duo, trio or foursome
grows even larger, the group will divide into two, so other musicians
may join in the fun. Children as young as 6 years have been known to
play with pickers in their 80s. All musicians are welcome regardless of
background, experience, or age.
Acoustic instruments only.
No alcoholic beverages please.
